How to Replace 6th Gen Honda Civic R8 Style Projector Headlight
Today we will learn how to install a hid projector headlight for 1996 to 1998 on the Civic. Tools you need with 10mm socket, drive ratchet, Phillips screwdrivers, trim pad remover, wire striper, wire crimper.
The first step is to underneath the front bumper we’ll notice that there are two bolts. Once the bolts are removed we can now move to the side where the fender and the bumper meets. There’s a Philips screw, you need to make sure this screw is taken out on both sides.
Second, at the top of the bumper, there are seven clips in the bumper, you need to take out all the seven clips. Once the screws are taken off, gently wiggle and tug the bumper off. Then you will see the headlight assembly.
After that, in order to take off the headlight, we’ll have to remove four ten millimeter bolts. We can do that by removing the inner one, the outer one and the two on top at this point. When the bolts are removed, we could pull back the headlight slightly, just to reach in and unplug the harnesses.
When the projector headlights are put back to its original place, plug back in the light bulb sockets. Tight the four blots of the headlight and install the bumper in. Once the bumper is put back into place, put back all the screws and bolts and clips, remove them earlier. The headlight retrofitting is now complete, but you need to make sure that all lighting is working safely before taking your vehicle out on the road.
